Steven R. Lantz
Senior Research Associate
Steve has been with CAC (previously the Cornell Theory Center) since 1991, initially as a postdoctoral
associate, then as a member of Cornell’s research faculty. His work involves advising and training
users of Cornell’s high-performance computing facilities while engaging in computational research in
such diverse areas as plasma physics, high energy physics, turbulence, combustion, and optics. He has also
served as an instructor for CIS 4205, Effective Use of High Performance Computing
(Spring ’09) and ECE 5860, Upper Atmospheric and Ionospheric Physics II
(Spring ’10). A record of his past undergraduate researchers’ accomplishments can be viewed at
his home page, which contains links to a number of training materials authored by
Dr. Lantz. He has done occasional consulting work for Corning Incorporated and Boeing. Steve is a member of
Cornell’s Graduate Faculty, in the Graduate Minor Field of
Computational
Science and Engineering, and has been appointed as a Visiting Lecturer in Astronomy in order to
co-teach ASTRO 6531 (Fall ’24).
