The public domain Xming 6.9.0.31 has been installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Xming.

The following options were selected:
[Custom install]
Check non US Keyboard Support
Uncheck Xlaunch Wizard
 - No Xlaunch shortcuts were chosen (it doesn't seem all that useful)
Check run utility start programs with hidden console
Choose radio button Normal PuTTY Link SSH client
Portable PuTTY was NOT installed because it seems less suitable for a multi-user system
 - Portable PuTTY stores its configs in a file in the same C: directory as the exe
 - Standard PuTTY from Simon Tatham stores its configs in HKCU in the Windows Registry
A Quick Launch shortcut for all users was added to the Windows Taskbar

Additional fonts, tools, and clients have been installed within the Xming directory
 - Xming-fonts 7.4.0.3 was installed in default location ("fonts" in Xming directory)
 - A Tools-and-Clients folder was created in Xming directory
 - Xming-tools-and-clients 6.9.0.28 was unzipped in Tools-and-Clients
 - my_mkfontalias.py was saved in Tools-and-Clients
   (text file copied from http://www.straightrunning.com/XmingNotes/fonts.php)

To provide additional TrueType fonts for X Windows, the following procedure was used from
an Administrative Command Prompt
 - mkfontscale.exe was run in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts to create fonts.scale and fonts.dir
 - my_mkfontalias.py was run on the latter file to produce fonts.alias

The specific commands were:
C:\Windows\Fonts>"c:\program files (x86)\xming\tools-and-clients\mkfontscale.exe"
  [Creates fonts.scale]
C:\Windows\Fonts>"c:\program files (x86)\xming\tools-and-clients\mkfontscale.exe" -b -s -l
  [Creates fonts.dir]
C:\Windows\Fonts>python "c:\program files (x86)\xming\tools-and-clients\my_mkfontalias.py"
  [Creates fonts.alias]

The PuTTY beta 0.60 has been installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\PuTTY.

The full Installer.exe was run which includes pscp, psftp, plink, and pageant.

The PuTTY desktop icon for All Users was renamed to "PuTTY -X"
 - Properties were edited to start putty.exe with -X (by adding -X to Target field)
