ITHACA, N.Y. – Today, Cornell University Senior Vice Provost for Research Robert Buhrman and University Librarian Anne R. Kenney issued a 'Dear Colleague' letter that announces the Research Data Management Service Group (RDMSG) has been created in order to meet the data management needs of interested Cornell researchers in a "straight forward and seamless fashion."
The RDMSG is a virtual service organization sponsored by Burhman and Kenney and is supported by the Cornell Center for Advanced Computing (CAC), the Cornell Institute for Social and Economic Research (CISER), the Cornell University Library (CUL), and the DISCOVER Research Group (DRSG).
The RDMSG was created in response to a new National Science Foundation policy requiring that a data management plan be submitted with all proposals starting on January 18, 2011.
According to the Dear Colleague letter, "The broad-based RDMSG will provide a coordinated, single point of access for information for Cornell researchers on services related to data management via its website: http://data.research.cornell.edu."
Today's letter also requests the participation of all interested PIs in a forthcoming survey that will be used to properly plan and scale Cornell data management services to meet campus needs.
