ITHACA, NY – The Cornell University Center for Advanced Computing (CAC) will develop online, asynchronous training modules for the $60 million National Science Foundation-funded Frontera supercomputer to be deployed at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin in the summer of 2019.
As an operations partner in the Frontera project, CAC will be responsible for authoring content for online courses, updating existing content, and adapting existing content from the larger Frontera team. Cornell Virtual Workshop (CVW) modules will be available through the TACC User Portal, the XSEDE User Portal, and on the CAC Web site. The CVWs will include sample code, video clips, quizzes, lab exercises, an HPC glossary, and a user notebook.
CAC will periodically present the training materials in a classroom setting to gain input to improve the online training content. In addition, they will be responsible for maintaining and improving the CVW infrastructure and Frontera learning environment.
CAC was previously selected to develop online training for the TACC Stampede2 supercomputer and the Indiana University Pervasive Technology Institute Jetstream cloud. Their consulting staff is a recognized leader in the development of Web-based training programs that enhance the computational skills of researchers, broaden the participation of underrepresented groups, and accelerate the adoption of new and emerging technologies by the U.S. workforce.
